August 31, 2025 | Rediscovering the Presence of God in Your Life

Here’s what Rev. Gill explored in this message:

Let’s be real — we live in a world that praises movement, momentum, and results. But what if the most important thing God is calling us to right now… is stillness? What if it’s not more effort He wants from us, but more presence — ours with Him, and His with us?

This week, we heard a message that cuts through the noise and calls us back to the core of our faith: the presence of God. In the book of Joshua, before any battles were won or land was taken, God gave Joshua one assurance: “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” It wasn’t Joshua’s strategy or strength that carried the people forward — it was God’s presence going ahead of them. And the same is true for us. No matter what’s ahead, God’s presence is still our greatest promise.

We also saw how this presence wasn’t just symbolic; it was tangible. The Ark of the Covenant was more than a religious object. It represented God dwelling among His people. And when the priests carried it into the Jordan River, the waters parted. Not because of who they were, but because of who was with them. That same presence lives in us now through the Holy Spirit, and we were challenged to ask: are we carrying His presence, or just carrying out routines?

Rev. Gill also shared a powerful testimony from India — a healing that defied medicine, science, and expectations. A woman with cystic fibrosis, who didn’t even know Jesus, walked into a church out of curiosity… and walked out changed. Why? Because God’s presence was in that place. Not just theology. Not just nice people. But the power of a God who still heals, still speaks, and still transforms.

If we’re honest, many of us live like Martha — busy, overwhelmed, and well-intentioned. But Jesus said Mary had chosen the better thing: sitting in His presence. What would our lives look like if we chose the same? This week, we were invited to stop striving, stop listing off prayers like a checklist, and simply abide. To sit in God’s presence — not to get something from Him, but to be with Him.
