Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors. A church that feels like home.
Meet Jeanne Jones—the heart behind our Children’s Ministry since 2017, when she and her husband, Al, settled in Georgia to be closer to family. Beyond these church walls, she’s also the District Children’s Coordinator for the SouthWest District of the North Georgia Conference’s Board of Laity and the go-to contact for the NGUMC Children’s Ministry Networking Groups. Her passion? Simple: it’s teaching children about the God who loves and redeems them, all while soaking up the inspiring lessons they teach her right back.
Originally from New Jersey, Jeanne earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Education at Rider University (where she also took master-level courses). Along the way, she stepped into leadership roles—serving as vice president of the student body and even joining the President’s Advisory Council. Her very first teaching job was at Princeton Day School in Princeton, New Jersey. Then life led her to Atlanta, where she spent a decade as Director of the Redeemer School for Young Children, simultaneously volunteering as Children’s Pastor. When that ministry outgrew a volunteer role, she happily stepped into it full-time.
In 2009, Jeanne and Al headed to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for his job—leading her to The Dunham School, where she served as Director of Reading and Research and loved cheering on students from PK3 through 12th grade. Jeanne has also traveled extensively on more than a dozen mission trips in five countries, even lending a hand to deliver a baby in Naerigu, Africa! Alongside that, she’s a certified health instructor for Living Waters for the World.
These days, Jeanne and Al live on a 30-acre farm, staying busy caring for cows, chickens, honeybees, and a sprawling vegetable garden. They have three grown children—Lindsay, Ryan, and Matthew—plus four grandchildren and six beloved “grand-dogs.” If you’re looking for Jeanne off the farm, she’s probably playing tennis, diving into a good book, cheering on SEC football (Geaux, Tigers!), or simply savoring time with her big extended family. She’s one of six siblings, and though most of them live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, she visits as often as possible. Above all, Jeanne’s mission is clear: nurturing children’s faith, celebrating God’s love, and keeping a joyful heart along the way.
